They say your mid-twenties are for building dreams.

But Arjun felt like he was just building bills.

He was twenty-five, working nine hours a day, saving screenshots of flight tickets he couldn’t afford, and telling himself that next month… next month, everything would change.

But it didn’t. And one evening, when his UPI app showed “low balance” again, he sat on a park bench staring at his phone, wondering if adulthood was just a subscription that auto-renewed without asking.

A soft voice broke his thoughts. “Still counting coins, Arjun?”

He looked up. Krishna. Wearing a faded hoodie, sipping chai from a kulhad, like He’d just walked out of an MBA lecture.

Arjun sighed. “Don’t start, Krishna. I’m not heartbroken this time, just… financially challenged.”

Krishna smiled, “Ah, so you’ve upgraded your problems.”

Arjun rolled his eyes. “I’m serious. I’m working so hard, but I still feel like I’m behind everyone. Some friends bought a car, another went abroad, and here I am, celebrating when I can afford extra cheese.”

Krishna took a slow sip. “Tell me, Arjun, when you compare your path to theirs, do you walk faster, or just lose direction?”

Arjun paused. “Both, I think.”

Krishna nodded. “Then maybe the problem isn’t speed, it’s that you forgot why you started walking at all.”

Arjun leaned back, frustrated. “So what, I should stop caring about money?”

Krishna shook His head. “No. Earn it. Respect it. But don’t measure your worth with it. Money is fuel, not destination.”

He pointed to the chai stall behind them. “See that vendor? He earns less than you, but every evening he hums while stirring tea. He’s rich in rhythm, Arjun. You’re rich in worry.”

Arjun chuckled sadly, “So what’s your grand solution?”

Krishna smiled, “Do one thing each day that isn’t for survival. Something that makes your soul say ‘finally.’ Read, write, run, sing, paint; whatever reminds you that life is more than invoices and inboxes.”

Arjun looked at his empty cup. “I thought I was failing at life.”

Krishna’s eyes softened. “You’re not failing. You’re forming. Pressure isn’t punishment, it’s preparation.”

He stood, stretching his arms toward the evening sky. “Remember, Arjun, everyone’s timeline has its own tempo. Some flowers bloom in spring. Some take a little longer, because they’re learning how to face the sun.”

Arjun smiled, feeling something unclench inside. Maybe peace wasn’t a raise or a vacation. Maybe it was this: quiet, warm, unmeasured.

As Krishna started to walk away, Arjun called out, “Wait! What’s this phase called?”

Krishna turned, grin widening. “This one?”

“This one’s called… The Weight of Enough.”
