Arnav sat, gripping the edges of the polished wooden table. The soft hum of an old gramophone played in the background. The air was strangely still, like the world outside had stopped breathing.

Ishaan approached with two cups of steaming coffee and placed one in front of him.

"Drink," Ishaan said gently, "It helps clear the noise."

Arnav hesitated but lifted the cup. The first sip was oddly soothing. The bitterness carried a warmth that crept into his chest and quieted the storm in his head.

"You carry a heavy weight," Ishaan said, leaning back. "Guilt. Regret. Fear."

Arnav’s throat tightened. His mind raced. "How do you know that?"

Ishaan simply smiled. "Because this café does not open for everyone. Only for those who are lost between their past and their future."

Arnav looked away, the weight in his chest growing heavier. Images flashed in his mind. His sister’s accident. The argument that led her to drive that night. The silence that followed for years.

"I didn’t mean for it to happen," Arnav whispered, his voice cracking. "If I hadn’t said those things..."

"You believe you caused it," Ishaan said softly. "And so you punish yourself every single day."

The lights flickered. For a moment, Arnav saw his own reflection in the dark window. But the reflection wasn’t his. It was a younger version of himself, eyes full of anger, lips mouthing words he wished he could take back.

Arnav shut his eyes tightly. "Make it stop."

"You cannot run from what you refuse to face," Ishaan’s voice was calm but firm. "Guilt is like a shadow. The more you run, the bigger it grows."

The gramophone needle scratched, distorting the music into a strange echo. The walls of the café seemed to breathe.

"Then what do I do?" Arnav pleaded.

Ishaan leaned forward. His voice dropped to a whisper. "You forgive yourself."

Arnav’s eyes shot open. "I can’t."

"You must," Ishaan said. "Because forgiveness isn’t about erasing the past. It’s about releasing your grip on it."

The clock behind the counter ticked loudly. 3:00 AM. Yet outside, the world remained frozen.

Suddenly, a door appeared behind Ishaan. A door that hadn’t been there before.

"Beyond that door," Ishaan continued, "lies the part of you you’ve locked away. Face it, and you will be free."

Arnav stared at the door, his pulse quickening. His legs trembled as he stood.

He took a step forward.

The door creaked open by itself, revealing complete darkness inside.

And from within that darkness, a faint voice whispered his name.

"Arnav…"

He froze.

It was his sister’s voice.
